- Free guidance. The tools are provided free of charge for general information. Using them does not create a contract for any of our certification or support services.
- No reliance. Results and suggestions are not an assessment, pre-check, audit or professional advice, and you should not rely on them as such. They do not predict or guarantee the outcome of any Cyber Essentials, Cyber Essentials Plus or other assessment.
- What the tools can and can’t do. The tools help you check parts of your setup against the Cyber Essentials requirements. They don’t do everything for you. To pass, you’ll also need:
- the time and technical knowledge to apply what the tools show you to your own systems;
- the right policies, processes and procedures in place, and followed in practice;
- to answer each question in a way that clearly shows how your controls meet the requirement;
- to cover the areas the tools don’t, such as your full scope and anything specific to your organisation.
- Accuracy. The requirements and marking guidance change frequently, and we don’t update the tools in line with every change. We don’t promise that the tools are complete, accurate, current or free of errors.
- Your responsibility. You are responsible for the accuracy of your answers in any assessment, for the controls your organisation uses, and for checking them against the current NCSC requirements.
- Liability. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from using, or relying on, the tools or their results, including a failed or delayed assessment, lost contracts, lost profit or business interruption.
- What we don’t exclude. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
- Paid services. If you buy one of our services, its own terms and conditions apply to that service.
- Law. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
Before you use a tool we ask you to tick a box to accept these terms. Your acceptance is remembered in your browser. If we change these terms, we’ll ask you to accept them again.
